Becoming happy and fulfilled..

Sometimes we are so busy that we never take time out of our day to inhale or exhale. We get so caught up with the day to day responsibilities taking care of our children, taking care of our spouses, going to school for some, working, and handling other life affairs. By the time you realize it, your day has come and gone. It’s okay to handle your business everyday but we have to stop and take care of ourselves physically, mentally, and emotionally. So guess what? Today, you will make yourself a priority. No cellphone, no social media, or television. Today, you will take the time out of your day and do what I call, “cleaning out the closet.” So let’s get started, first I want you to relax and clear your mind and just breathe. None of us are perfect no matter how much we pretend to be or see others who look perfect. We are perfectly imperfect and the sooner we realize this, the better off we will be. You don’t have to have everything figured out, so take this time to breathe and let go. Take this time to meditate and talk to God. I want you to pour your heart out and let go of the worry, stress, and your control issues. Even if you are not religious meditation is good for you.

Next, you should get a notebook and make this your daily journal. You will use this journal on a daily basis to write about whatever you are thinking and your goals. Once you are done working on your emotional and mental clarity you will be ready to move onto the next step. This step includes cleaning and rearranging your living space. This may sound crazy but you can’t be surrounded by mess. I believe if your home is a mess, so is your life. It all flows together so get rid of those old jeans that you could fit when you were nineteen. Don’t feel bad, I have a pair that I had since I was twenty three. Let go and accept you for where you are today. Clean your home, get rid of all the old papers that have been sitting in the junk drawer for two years. Move the furniture around and put that picture up that you have been wanting to frame since last year. Too funny! Once you are done making your home into a new space it will help with your mental clarity. Place some fresh flowers on your table or wherever you prefer. I feel like the vibrant colors of flowers and the fresh smell brightens up a room. It may seem minor but you will feel the change as you sit back and put your feet up and smell the nice bamboo candles that are burning. Next, clean your email up. This is the longest task ever if your email looks like mine. I had over 5000 emails from junk mail to important mail that I had never gotten a chance to look at. Delete, Delete, and Delete. I am sure if you haven’t checked your email in over a month, you will not miss the emails you are deleting.

Last but not least, think about all of the people and things that bring your energy down or make you feel bad. This is anything or anyone who make you feel less than, this includes any bad relationship. Make a decision today to let go and be at peace. You deserve to be happy and feel loved. If someone is threatened by your growth and tries to make you stay stagnant, let them go too. And by this I mean, hello and goodbye. You don’t have to be rude and mean but stern as my therapist calls it “setting boundaries.” You owe it to yourself to feel good, be positive, and surround yourself with the same positive energy that you want to put out. I have always believed you become what surround yourself with, so be careful. Once you are complete, you will feel good about being one step closer to your goal of being happy and fulfilled.
